Dogster Terms & Conditions

1. Liability

1.1 The Owner uses the services and facilities of Dogster at their sole risk.

1.2 Whilst all reasonable care and precaution is taken in looking after the animals at Dogster, the Owner understands that Dogster, their staff, partners and volunteers will not be liable financially or otherwise, for loss or damage to their Dog/s, self or any property of theirs (including but not limited to: collars, leads, beds, containers, any other belongings of the Owner and/or animal left at the premises) whilst their Dog/s is at, or participating in services provided by Dogster, through sickness, escape, death or from any cause whatsoever.

1.3 In the event of a medical emergency, whereby immediate medical assistance is needed, Dogster will engage the services of a Veterinary Practice; the fees, including the costs resulting from a call-out or transport, regardless of how the emergency came about, are to be paid by the Owner. Should Dogster need to pay the Veterinary Practice, the Owner will be invoiced by Dogster, and payment will be due upon presentation of the invoice.

1.4 The Owner hereby gives Dogster their express authorisation to provide their personal information to the Veterinary Practice for purposes of payment.

1.5 If a medical emergency arises whilst your Dog is at Dogster or participating in a service that we provide, it is imperative that we are immediately able to get them medical treatment. The closest facilities are Jukskei Park Veterinary Clinic or Olivedale Veterinary Clinic; for any services they cannot supply, either Fourways Veterinary Hospital or Bryanston Veterinary Hospital. Your Dog will be rushed to one of these treatment facilities, and you will be notified.

2. Payment

2.1 Invoices are sent out monthly on or around the 24th for full payment in advance before the 1st. Any additional services requested or required (e.g. tick/flea treatment) during the month will be added to your upcoming bill, unless payment is required upfront prior to the commencement of the service.

2.2 Failure to make payment will result in your Dog being unable to attend Daycare until payment has been received in full; any days missed due to non-payment will be forfeited.

2.4 Daycare fees, any additional service fees and BEMER treatment fees shall be subject to an annual increase of approximately 10%, which shall generally be applied in January of each year.

2.5 One (1) month’s written notice is required to terminate daycare services. Clients who fail to provide the required notice agree to pay all fees due for the full notice period, whether or not their dog attends daycare during that time.

3. Attendance

3.2 Dogster is closed on Weekends and Public holidays and for 10 (ten) working days over the festive season in December each year. Full daycare fees for December/January remain due and payable.

3.3 We allow for early morning drop-off from 06h30 and late pick-up until 18h30 Monday to Friday, by prior arrangement.

3.4 Days missed due to unforeseen circumstances can be caught up within 60 (sixty) days. Please WhatsApp or email to book the catch-up day in advance.

3.5 If you do not bring your Dog in on the correct day or if you do not provide 24 (twenty-four) hours’ notice that your Dog will not be attending daycare on the day agreed upon in your registration form, you will forfeit the day.

3.6 The Owner undertakes to collect their Dog at the scheduled times on the days registered in their Dog’s registration form. Any Dogs that have not been collected at closing time or the agreed time shall be subject to a late pickup fee, at the discretion of Dogster.

3.7 If the Owner will be unable to adhere to the scheduled collection times, the Owner shall make the necessary arrangements for an alternate responsible person to collect their Dog. The Dog will only be returned to the Owner, unless prior arrangements have been made with Dogster for the Dog to be collected by someone else.

3.8 In the event of your Dog not being collected by 18h30, Dogster will make arrangements for the Dog to board overnight at a nearby boarding facility, and the Owner will be charged for boarding rates together with any costs of food provided.

3.9 Collection and drop-off services can be arranged at an additional charge via a Third-Party transport provider; these services are not rendered by Dogster and are provided subject to the Third-Party providers’ terms and conditions.

3.10 Any days missed by the Dog as scheduled with Dogster due to contagious illness, Dogster agrees to provide ‘catch up’ days within a 90 (ninety) day period from obtaining the vet clearance certificate to return.

4. Abandonment

4.1 If the Dog is left at Dogster for a period longer than 48 (forty-eight) hours and the Owner has failed to make alternate arrangements, the Owner will be deemed to have abandoned the Dog, and Dogster reserves the right to take the necessary steps without further notice to the Owner. The Owner will at all times remain liable for the costs incurred.

5. Breeds

5.1 Dogster welcomes all small to medium breeds (except medium-sized power breeds). All Dogs are to be assessed by Dogster upon enrolment or as deemed necessary by Dogster.

5.2 Dogster reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate the Agreement and/or enrollment, should it be deemed necessary.

6. General

6.1 The Owner is required to provide their Dog with food for the duration of the Dog’s stay. If the Owner prefers that their Dog only receive a specific type or brand of treat, the Owner is required to provide treats for the duration of the Dog’s stay.

6.2 Each meal is to be supplied in a zip-lock bag or container clearly marked with the Dog’s name.

6.3 Dogster will be happy to assist in the administering of medication to the Dog where necessary, i.e. tablets (injections will not be administered).

6.4 All medication must be supplied in a zip-lock bag, clearly marked with your Dog’s name, as well as clear instructions on how and when to administer such medication.

7. Personal Items

7.1 While Dogster will make every effort to take care of your Dog’s personal items as far as reasonably possible, Dogster, however, cannot guarantee the return of personal items (toys, beds, blankets or clothing) or their return in the condition in which they were received. Items may be returned chewed, torn, or completely damaged by your pet or another.

7.2 The Owner shall ensure that all personal items are clearly marked with your Dog’s name.

8. Owner Undertakings

8.1 No Dogs may attend Dogster if they are not spayed/neutered.

8.2 The Owner undertakes to notify Dogster of any infectious and/or contagious disease or condition that the Dog has been exposed to or is affected by. No Dog may attend Dogster with a contagious illness. The Dog may not return to Dogster without first obtaining a clearance certificate from the Dog’s veterinary clinic.

8.3 The Owner undertakes to keep up to date with the Dog’s vaccinations and to ensure that every precaution is taken to ensure the Dog remains infection-free.

8.4 The Owners shall, at all times, notify Dogster of any dangers associated with the Dog. Dogster does not accept any dogs with a history of aggression or biting.

8.5 It is the Owner’s responsibility to keep Dogster up to date with their Dog’s tick, flea, deworming and annual vaccination records. The Owner is to ensure that they email a copy of the updated vaccination card to Dogster (hello@dogster.co.za) annually.

8.6 The Owner acknowledges and agrees that should the Dog cause harm to another Dog during the Dog’s attendance at Dogster, the Owner may be liable for any veterinary costs incurred as a result thereof.

9. Emergency Medical Authorisation

9.1 The Owner hereby authorises Dogster to act on the Owner’s behalf in the event of the Dog needing immediate medical attention.

9.2 In the event of a medical emergency, the Owner hereby authorises the Veterinary staff to perform medical and/or surgical treatments necessary to preserve the Dog’s life until the Owner can be contacted for further approval and/or instruction.

9.3 The Owner accepts full responsibility for the treatment the Dog receives as per 9.2 above.

9.4 The Owner hereby indemnifies and holds Dogster harmless against any costs associated herewith.

10. Indemnities

10.1 The Owner acknowledges that Dogster is an open daycare and that their Dog will socialise with other Dogs. The Owner accepts all the risks involved in such socialisation and hereby indemnifies Dogster against any injuries sustained or illness contracted by the Dog resulting from the Dog’s attendance at Dogster.

10.2 To the extent that any provision or part of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable, such unenforceability or invalidity of any provision or part of this Agreement will not affect the remaining provisions contained herein, and such remaining provisions shall remain of full force and effect.

10.3 No alteration, variation or cancellation by agreement of, addition or amendment to, or deletion from this Agreement shall be of any force or effect unless in writing and agreed to by both parties.

By registering their Dog at Dogster daycare, the Owner agrees that they have read, understood and accepted the terms and conditions as set out herein.
